Action on Grantham Relief Road

Grantham’s long-awaited southern relief road has taken a major step forward with news that Lincolnshire County Council is moving ahead with legal orders and land acquisitions for Phase 2 of a road set to transform the town.

The relief road will link the A52 at Somerby Hill to the A1, crossing the Witham Valley, the East Coast railway line and the River Witham by means of a viaduct.

The 3.5km road is designed to improve Grantham’s infrastructure, keep heavy lorries out of the town centre to open up opportunities for improvements, enable economic growth and improve journey times for traffic travelling east to west, north to south and vice versa
