New Business Grants & Diversification, Resilience & Recovery Grants

South Kesteven District Council and InvestSK are pleased to be able to bring forward the New Business Grant, and the Diversification Resilience & Recovery Grants which are open to businesses based within the South Kesteven District.

The Grants open from September 6th and offer up to 50% support for eligible applications for capital and revenue related investment initiatives.  These grants are very much focused on activities which help future development, growth and jobs and can be utilised to support a wide range of initiatives and investment. Some hours of mentoring or further support is also included within the grants.

Some examples of activity that can be funded include:

  • Equipment and machinery or other assets that can help your business to diversify & grow
  • Website & online sales development
  • Business advice or consultancy costs
  • Cost of renovating your shop front within planning and conservation area rules
  • Innovations to help your business to adapt and change after COVID-19
  • Development of a new product or service to help your business to diversify

The Council has created the scheme using the District’s discretionary allocation of Government COVID-19 support for businesses. Available grants are between £1,000 and £12,500 and all applications individually assessed by the InvestSK business team who will also have the option of providing further business support. Applications are open from Monday 6th September until Friday 28th January (or until fund is fully allocated).  All grants awarded needing to be fully claimed by 31 March 2022.

All applications will be assessed on their own merits and grants awarded on a competitive basis, so funds may be exhausted before the 28th January closing date.

The intention is to support all types of businesses with viable projects and not all businesses will be successful – for example we can’t support businesses that are insolvent or classified as an entity in difficulty, or those that have already exceeded the limits on public funded support or those based outside district.

Businesses will need to be able to contribute towards their planned investment and we would expect the business and its initiative to be viable and contribute to development & growth. The business may need to fund the cost of the investment up front, as grants may be claimed retrospectively.
