This event is organised by Grantham and Stamford Jobcentres and supported by Nick Boles MP, who will be taking part.
The employment rate for disabled people of working age is 50.7% while the rate for non-disabled people is 81.1%. The Government is committed to ensuring that this gap is closed and all disabled people have the opportunities and support they need to play as full a part as possible in society, including gaining and retaining employment.
Over 7 million people of working age in the UK are disabled or have a long-term health condition. It therefore makes sound business sense for all employers to make sure that disabled talent is not excluded from their workforce.
The aim of the workshop is to help employers to be Disability Confident, identifying the advantages of employing people with a disability or long-term health condition and sharing good practice and knowledge to help you on your Disability Confident journey. The event will have something to offer for all employers, whether just starting to think about their attitude towards disability or already signed up to the Disability Confident scheme. It will be a time for open and supportive discussion.
We hope that you are interested and able to attend the event. If you and/or up to two of your colleagues will be attending, please send email confirmation to us at [email protected].
