30 Jul InvestSK Limited appoints Steve Bowyer as Chief Executive
InvestSK Limited, South Kesteven District Council’s new economic development company, has appointed Steve Bowyer as its Chief Executive. Steve, who has been InvestSK’s Strategic Lead for the last year and instrumental in establishing the organisation, will take up the post at the beginning of October.
As a wholly-owned company of South Kesteven District Council, InvestSK Limited is charged with leading an ambitious economic growth agenda for the district; supporting local businesses to grow, delivering new inward investment projects, boosting the arts, heritage and visitor economy offers, and enhancing the skills of South Kesteven’s future workforce.
Steve has a proven track record in delivering comprehensive economic growth and brings a wealth of experience from the economic development, regeneration and heritage sectors. Most recently he has been Chief Executive at Opportunity Peterborough, an economic development company delivering inward investment, skills and economic growth services for the city of Peterborough, as well as private consultancy for neighbouring local authorities. In this role Steve has led significant economic development and regeneration programmes, including revitalising Peterborough’s Cathedral Square and attracting its many new bars and restaurants, transforming the city centre into a thriving destination.
Commenting on his appointment, Steve Bowyer said: “I’m delighted to be joining InvestSK Limited as Chief Executive. I’ve been incredibly impressed by all that South Kesteven has to offer – both as a visitor destination and a place to do business – yet the area still holds so much growth potential and opportunity, and that’s really exciting.
“South Kesteven has excellent connectivity, a skilled and motivated workforce and some 5,400 businesses operating across all sectors who are doing incredible things. It has a rich heritage, stunning architecture and countless visitor attractions for all the family to enjoy. I’m looking forward to celebrating the area’s many strengths, showcasing why companies should relocate here and meeting more local businesses to understand their growth aspirations so InvestSK can offer the right support to help realise those ambitions.”
Cllr Matthew Lee, the Leader of South Kesteven District Council and a Director of InvestSK Limited, said: “I am delighted that Steve is joining InvestSK Limited. He’s an experienced and talented Chief Executive with excellent knowledge of economic development and place-making and has a proven track record. I’m confident he’ll lead the organisation successfully and will deliver on our ambitious agenda for strong economic growth across South Kesteven.”
