UK transition from the EU (Brexit)

FROM 1 JANUARY 2021, NEW RULES APPLY TO BUSINESSES TRADING INTERNATIONALLY

The UK has reached an agreement for trading with the European Union now we have left the EU single market and customs union.

 

Trading rules changed on 01 January 2021 so businesses need to adapt in order to continue trading with the EU.

Check what you need to do differently if you’re:

 

>> importing goods from the EU

>> exporting goods to the EU

>> moving goods to or from Northern Ireland

>> travelling to the EU

>> living and working in the EU

>> staying in the UK if you’re an EU citizen

FOUR THINGS YOU CAN DO NOW

Head to GOV.UK/transition to take a short survey and receive a personalised list of actions for you and your business to take

2.

If you can’t find answers online or have specific questions, fill out the DIT’s enquiry form and one of their experts will point you in the right direction

3.

Sign-up to DIT’s free, one-hour webinars to understand the new trading rules which will come into effect from 1 January 2021, and take part in a Q&A session. All UK businesses are welcome to join. You could also watch recordings of previous DIT webinars

4.

Attend webinars hosted by BEIS, DEFRA and HMRC, which cover specific topics such as personal data and regulations on manufactured goods, or watch them on demand

Businesses based in the EU also need to take action now

If you run an EU-based business, you need to check the new rules and prepare for the changes so that you can continue trading with the UK from January 2021.
